A song for the rain

Late last night I had a few musical ideas that would go really well with some recordings of early morning bird songs. Sleep won, however, and playing it was put off until the morning. I woke to the wonderful sound of rain and so recorded that instead! The song turned out completely different to how I heard it in my head last night though, so perhaps I'll save the other idea for another piece and another day.

The recording I have included is the improvisation I did this morning with a separate recording of the rain layered over the top. This is usually how my music evolves - I improvise based upon a very small idea or two, then record it and chop and change with the bits I liked. I then go and improvise with that again and the whole process repeats itself a good few times before I am anywhere near happy with it. This is a very rough mix that is purely what I improvised (hence why it is so long!). There are few good ideas in there, but there is a lot of work to do on it.

I'd love to know what you think so far.

Happy listening x
