Music success in 9 weeks - Week 1

Last year I went to a wonderful workshop by Ariel Hyatt, who is a digital marketing guru, and bought her book "Music Success in 9 weeks" to help me in my quest to become a successful indie musician. I did try to implement a couple of the things I learnt that day, but never studiously went throught the entire book. Well now I'm determined to make it all the way through, and I am going to blog my progress along with a group of musicians as part of Ariel's Blogging Challenge. Wish me luck!

Chapter 1 is about setting goals and having them sitting in front of your nose to keep you focussed. I made this lovely board of goals, which is sitting in my studio to inspire me every day.

I wrote them all in my new caligraphy pen, which has become my new obsession. I have the most beautiful shopping lists in all the land.

Some of my goals are based in the short term, to help me acheive my goal of releasing my next album. Some of them are a little further away, and some are more long term goals which I have endevoured to label with a year.

This is a very worthwhile exercise, since as soon as you pick a year you would like to acheive something by your mind immediately starts buzzing with how to acheive that goal. What would I need to acheive first, and by when?

In the short term, this goal setting has already helped me be more organised with creating everything for this album.

And on a different note, here are some progress shots of my hoop skirt costume. The final product will have doilys spiralling all over the place like spider-webs.

The photo shoot it is intended for has been moved to next week, due to my photographer running herself off her feet getting ready for her own exhibition, but do not despair! I will still upload some spoilers next week.

Yours fully goal-orientated,

Jane
