Looking For Blue - In the beginning...

Happy New Year to everyone!

Here marks the first post about Looking For Blue, my new album-to-be! I am very excited to be sharing with you my thoughts and ideas for this album as it grows and develops. Stayed tuned, there will be new clips, pictures and thoughts every week.

The concept of this album is loosely based around the events of last year; dealing with the loss of my beautiful mum, the wonderful support from my family, my extended family and my family-to-be, and my engagement to my wonderful partner Jarrah.

I do not wish to tell a story, just to bring together a collection of thoughts, ideas and feelings that have come out of this crazy year.

Usually titles are something I struggle with. They come last, after I have written, recorded and performed the songs, and even then I'm not always happy with them. This time the title came first, and the concept flowed naturally from it. The album title Looking For Blue has a few meanings. A vivid memory I have of last year is searching on the hill, looking for the blue of mum’s jacket. It also speaks of a numbness in these times that leads you to search for things that will bring on grief and overwhelming emotion.

For those of you who have commented that my music is like a movie soundtrack you’ll be pleased to hear that this is exactly what it will be on this album. The music will still be the focus, but will be accompanied by film, art and live performance. Some of this will be from my own hand, other parts through collaboration with other local artists. Some of the music will be written first with the art coming later, some the other way around, and some will be written and created together.

My head is bursting with ideas and I can't wait to get started!

Jane.

It all sounds very exciting and it seems like a kaleidoscope of music and art are going to be expressed so well by you and others. But mainly you.
So many emotions and so much to look forward to.
    Love, Jan Tolley.
